Odd Shoes.
Sunday, May 06, 2007, 8:33 AM

Dear Diary - More often it is the differences that define us and our individualities...they also determine our ability to see our own lackings and appreciate our need for each other...

redeye Nestled in amongst the discarded clothing refuse of someones past there are two shoes...they keep each other company and huddle close, warming in the early morning sunshine...

yellowsound A man continues in his quest to build his own kingdom from the trash of others, dismanting and retrieving his newfound treasure...crows and parrotts, cars and trucks add their voice to the interspersed rhythms of his activity...

greensmell The smells here are musty and full of mothballs...the perfumes dissipate on the light breeze of the morning...

bluetouch I am tempted to snuggle up in the softness of these strangers' cast-offs but the roughness of the scoria underlay puts me off...

purpletaste There is a taste of lanolin spiked mineral water, here...the wools and cottons of the clothing mixes with the scoria and the evaporating vapours of the overnight dew...

Microwave Dumped Near the Creek.
Sunday, November 04, 2007, 7:01 AM

Dear Diary - Creekside, nestled amongst the reeds, I found this microwave. It had obviously been dumped at some stage but it hadn't taken too long to build itself a little nesting area...

redeye This once domesticated and at some stage dumped, microwave seems to have found itself a nice home amongst the reeds on the banks of the creek which runs beneath the trestle bridge...well camouflaged and inconspicuous until one takes the trouble to wander amongst the tall waterside grasses and plants...

yellowsound The regular squawking of a waterfowl...constant "rilling" of the creeks waters on a small collective of rocks...magpies singing...a small bird marks out the path of its passing flight with regular chirps...

Listen to a sound bite from this location...
(*.mp3 format, 940KB)

greensmell Aniseed and soil...plants and water...

bluetouch Despite the cold air, the clumps of growth that surround me hold pockets of warmth...the plants scrape their leaves over the legs of my tripod...the waters of the creek have softened and slightly muddied the soil beneath my tripod feet...

purpletaste Did I just drink some ouzo or is it simply the flavours thrown up by the aniseed plants mixing refreshingly with the moist, airborne particles of the creek's waters...?

Rooftop Lounge.
Saturday, March 31, 2007, 10:55 AM

Dear Diary - a rooftop corner, the el fresco style of relaxing, BUT you've got to admit - it's probably seen better days...

Chair Suspended.
Saturday, February 24, 2007, 9:17 AM

Dear Diary -
"I am a chair suspended...
My four legs are of little use
on this open woven
perilous
landscape...
I must tread carefully
for fear of falling into the gaps
and remaining
forever...
fettered...
suspended and exposed
to the open sky
and the harsh attacks
of this purgatory's
elements..."

The Morning After.
Saturday, February 24, 2007, 9:05 AM

Dear Diary - "What the...? Huh...? Where am I...? How did I get here...?
...must have been some party last night...probably started off quietly enough, just sitting around somewhere with a few mates, but it obviously went a bit far at some stage...got to learn when to stop...a few drinks and those legs could lead you anywhere..."

After The Graff.

Dear Diary - a sudden and intense burst of energy and immediacy - spontaneity and vitality - gives birth to this raw and potent expression of self...

(...what is left after the rush and adrenaline have disippated...?)
