Dear Diary - sometimes there is nothing more to it than to take a big, deep breath and jump into the waves and get surrounded by the sea...no easing in; no testing the waters to see what the temperature's like...JUST JUMP IN! If it's cold, you'll soon adjust and in the end the refreshing contrast will set you all "a-tingle" and you'll wonder why you didn't take the plunge earlier...

Dear Diary - like a sentinel reassuring the crowds that there is alway someone watching out for one's safety, the red and yellow flag of the lifeguards snaps furiously in the wind.
