Seedlings in the ranks.
Friday, March
30, 2007, 8:36
AM
Dear Diary - "They are only young and need protection Still nothing more than seedlings ...barely grown Not yet saplings... Not yet "trees" Not yet the tenacity (and perhaps the wisdom) Honed by bitter winds, Desiccating drought, And the secrets of freedom Concealed in the existential abandonment Of the singing birds...
They are only seedlings in the ranks Yet we expect so much of them..."
|
Rows and rows of seedlings, encased in plastic protectors, lit up by the morning sun...
|
|
Distant dogs barking, builders busily hammering, magpies calling to one another, cars, the wind, the flapping of plastic protectors...
Listen to a sound bite from this location...

The pine of the woodchips, rich earth aromas, freshly mown grass...
|
|
Intermittent rushes of wind (trying to be "gusts" but not quite managing) nudge at my metal and faux leather casing, making my metal parts feel a bit cooler than they would otherwise be in this warm sunlight, the woodchip is uneven beneath my tripod feet, little splinters of wood, and small stones from the nearby path make a gritty addition to the mechanics used to raise and lower my tripod's "neck"...

Eucalypt and a taste of moisture on the air from the nearby Maribyrnong river

Federation Square Reflections.
Thursday, March 22, 2007, 10:18
AM
Dear Diary - I love Federation Square...probably for many of the reasons that others tend to hate it. I love its "hotch-potch" feel, the many angles, the hidden nooks and crannies, the little surprises at each turn. I love it that you can easily get lost and in the process discover a new space that you previously never knew existed. I love it that it has been the source of so much controversy over the years.

Woman Watering.
Monday, September 25, 2006, 8:56

Dear Diary - "...she takes the ewer and fills it with water (each drop is precious) lovingly, she pours the sacred essence over their thirsting foliage ...each passing second of their existence has been an eternal moment waiting for this...

Going To Work.
Monday, September
25, 2006, 8:32
AM
Dear Diary - got up earlier than usual this morning and headed into the city. Found my self wandering around the top end of Collins Street...the sun was just starting to reveal itself from the behind the buildings which for too long had kept the morning crowd (making their way to yet another day's work) held in their cool and unwelcoming shadows. Mind you, the buildings would have their way in the end, no matter what the day brought, as the daily drones would be ingested as the basic staple - the nourishment required to keep the bowels of commerce operating healthily...

Blue & Pale Green.
Wednesday, September 20, 2006, 8:49
AM
Dear Diary - there used to be a saying (maybe there still is): "...blue and green should never be seen without a colour in between..."
Where does that leave the point where the grass meets the sky...?
